ACM Digital Library The ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Web site offers a wealth of specialized technical knowledge. The EMU Library’s subscription allows you to access only the ACM Digital Library and the Guide to Computing Literature. The ACM Digital Library has full text articles from ACM publications and conference proceedings. The Guide to Computing Literature indexes a larger set of publications by other organizations, but provides only a citation or abstract.

The ACM Digitial Library includes highly specialized technical and theoretical content, but also some publications of more general interest such as:

  • ACM Computing Surveys (CSUR)
“comprehensive, readable tutorials and survey papers give guided tours through the literature and explain topics to those who seek to learn the basics of areas outside their specialties.”
  • Communications of the ACM (CACM)
provides industry news and “regular feature columns that comment on such topics as legal issues, practical programming, market trends, business enterprises, and cyber citizenry.”
  • Crossroads
“provides students with accessible articles on a wide range of computer science related topics and a forum to share work with others.”
  • netWorker
“delivers the latest on technologies and trends to its audience of practitioners, designers, business managers and others plugged into the networking culture.”

  • Access from off campus with My.Emich login
This site has many levels of access: some free to anyone, some available to EMU students under our subscription, and some available only to members of ACM subgroups.
